Sleepy Trat, the final destination before our visa runs out. it was intended to be a place to relax for a few days after Bangkok and before Phnom Penh. \
We ended up staying a POP guest house the two days we were here and it was really nice. upon arrival we realized that we were in a malaria high risk area, so we promptly started taking our pills. the second day of our pill taking was when our room started to really attract mosquitos,so were relieved to remember when we did. we did, however, stay on ko lantafor over a week, which is also a malaria risk area without taking pills and so far, so good.
not much to trat, really, just a sleepy town. there was a neat night market and a post office for me to send purchased goods home from so it entertained for the time spent there. any maps we had of trat, much like chinatown in my last entry, you completely useless... well, not completely, but they were shit. we found the post office ok, but anything it seemed didn't exist. Landon saw a pug at the night market and i think she's still glowing from it...
seriously, though, not much else to say about trat. it was nice and relaxed but we got bored soon (at least i did) so we got our tickets to Phnom Penh, capital city of cambodia. we had to wake up a 5 in the frickin' morning though... \
the cambodia border is corrupt as all get out. petty extortion. scam artists everywhere trying to make a buck for offering services out of what seems to be kindness and then ask for a 100+ baht afterwards. that and we were prepeared to let go of $20 american as the immigration fee but instead were charged 1200 baht. ($20 american = appox. 800 baht) definitely a sour first taste of cambodia. \

stay tuned for the next entry, as it chronicles the bus ride to and times in..... PHNOM PENH!!!!
