The 'travel treasure' stories I wish to share are my own travel experiences which I have been lucky enough to encounter.
Ko Shan road coincidences- A few years back I was lucky enough to travel to Bangkok and get to explore the vast city. On my last day in Bangkok I visited the popular Ko Shan road and met a tailor, now friend, Sanjay. I bought some suits of him and we exchanged details and stayed in touch. About two years later my brother visited Ko Shan road with his girlfriend while touring Asia. While in Ko Shan Road many tailor's approached him looking for his business, he declined all the tailor's except one. On e tailor shouted "Conas Ata Tú ? " ( Irish for How are you) - as my brother was walking away the Tailor approached him and said "Hey your Irish. I have a friend from Ireland , his name is Dave. Here is a picture of him" - my brother was shocked to discover that it was me in the picture. The tailor happened to be my friend Sanjay. Both were stunned with amazement on discovering the connection. This along with my other stories showed me how small the world really is.
Neighbours at the Great - In 2014 i visited to Great Wall of China and upon reaching one of the towers I asked the first person I saw to take a picture for me. afterwards we started talking and I discovered hewas from the same place in Limerick , Ireland where I was living at the time - Dooradoyle. This is a small place of only 2,000 people. I could not believe that I had met a neighbor over 8,000km from home.
Postcards of home - While on the same trip to China I visited a postcard shop in Shanghai. There was a Brazilian girl in the queue and while waiting to be served we started to talk and she told me that she spent a lot of time studying in a place called Limerick , Ireland. Again , I could not believe I was as far from home as I was and met someone who studied only a few miles from my house. Fact is often stranger then fiction.
My father often tell's the story of my Uncle driving past my Aunt on a bus in Spain in the early 80's and neither knew they were in Spain at the time.
The aim of my stories are for the reader to recall their own travel experiences and hope they will bring up the same warm memories for them as mine do for me. All of these stories contribute to my desire to explore as much as the world as possible and experience many more amazing stories.
