My Scholarship entry - Will tourism destroy Angkor?

I’m a chemist turned photographer that loves traveling and appreciates cultural diversity. I switched from chemistry to photography for a new challenge. I enjoy the challenge of freelance photography work by improving my skills as a photographer and building a business. I am a self taught photographer and constantly driven to learn as much as possible through classes, studying the work of photographers, and assisting photographers.
From the scholarship I hope to learn how to improve my photographic story telling skills and communicate better with the viewer. I would also like to learn Jason’s thought process for an assignment from beginning to end, including: brainstorming and research prior to going in the field, photographing the assignment, to final presentation of the story.
Everything I learn from the scholarship I hope to contribute back to the photography non-profit I volunteer for. The non-profit provides the community with photography classes and resources. I can see myself giving back to the community by teaching a class or mentoring high school students utilizing photography as a creativity outlet.
