My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Cambodia | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

Murrayville, a small, remote town of 250, survival dependant primarily upon grain harvest.Long, 16hour days in extremely hot conditions, dedication and psychological strengths provides for the right country mentality fit for this expedition. A feeling evoked by my father, pinning a white sheet onto the wall beginning the annual “slide show” from his travels in the 70’s, capturing moments in history which he could now share with his family. At 16years of age, a fire ripped through the family home, destroying most of the photographs from my father’s travels and of our family.Yet fortunate enough to have shared experiences vicariously, which highlights the importance of photographs.Transcending time, space, boarders, ability to communicate with family, friends and the wider community with different cultures, beliefs, and languages which brings people all over the world together.Once placed behind a lens the world changes. Abilities to honor detail, lighting, and context.Hence forth, Jason I am a motivated, honest, hard working individual, with a strong will to learn.Hopefully this Country Kid can provide humour, mule carrying abilities and a unique experience, mutually benefiting.
