MY JOURNEY TO BE A JOURNALIST
By: Darju Prasetya
My parents had educated me to be a hard worker. As a child who was born in the remote village of Tuban limestone hills of the mountain, nothing can be done except I lament the poverty of life in our neighborhood. Although my parents are rich enough in my village, but it seems my heart cried when I saw my neighbors are in hunger. I saw their houses made of bamboo walls with holes. Roofs are leaking. They had to work hard all day to get rice. Their struggle never stops.

"You have to learn from their poverty! Never boast of the wealth owned by your parents! You must struggle for your own life! "He said at the time. My father’s saying has given me a spirit to keep learning to reach my goal. Maybe in that time no one in my village who had a great mind like my father ideals. He was very concerned about their children's education. Even at that time in my village there were no children went to college except in my family. My father had sent my brother to study in university. A great achievement of my father's thinking.

I learn a lot from my father's footsteps. I learn from poor people who are struggling to their survival. I learn from my brother who has been successful studying in a favorite college in Malang city. I learned from great people. I want to be a journalist who can produce great works.

I love the world of writing since at elementary school. At that time, it was Kartini Day celebration. My school held a writing contest. In my heart, this was the opportunity for me to show my ability in the writing world. By studying hard and looking for sources of information in a very poor school library books, I was finally able to write and produced a good essay about Madam Kartini, a true Warrior of Indonesian woman. My essay became the winner in my school writing contest at that time. An incredible excitement has been stirring my heart. I was called on stage to accept a gift from my teacher. Since then, I'm more enthusiastic to write in my life journey. .
