Growing up in The Bronx, New York, It was easy for me to become influenced by my surroundings. At the age of 15 is when I got my first camera and quickly noticed there was a great feeling that came along with the photos I would capture. Besides keeping me out of trouble, photography allowed me to open up as a person and feel comfortable sharing my photos with family and friends.
Being part of a photography class my Sophomore year of high school, one of the main topics the teacher embedded in our heads was “Everybody has a story to tell”. At this age I didn’t care much for stories, I was enjoying taking pictures of the pretty girls in my class and being known as the photographer.
My first photo project didn't begin until I turned 21. I chose a place I felt most comfortable and that was the the basketball court, where I spent every summer and witnessed everything from gang initiations to family barbecues, this was what I knew.
I quickly noticed what may seem normal to you may be completely unique to others and that idea influenced my urge to travel and see what stories the world has to offer. This opportunity will be nothing short of life changing for me.
