My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

When I first met 72-year-old Leonard he was dealing with
the loss of his mother, whom he had lived with all his life. Finding himself thrown into an unfamiliar situation, he was learning to live on his own while dealing with the ins and outs of domesticity for the first time in his life.

Since his mothers passing Leonard has moved back to the farm where he was born, now owned by horticultural machinery specialist Ron Greed, whom Leonard has worked for all his life. Although he is well into his retirement years Leonard still enjoys performing odd jobs around the farm while enjoying his own company and reminiscing of times gone by.

Leonard is a fascinating individual, full of stories and knowledge, his home represents a landscape of his memories and past life. I would often find myself listening intently as he recalled his life stories, making the occasional frame when I felt necessary.
