My Photo Scholarship 2010 Application

Peru | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | 5 photos

These photos are centralized around the theme of how cultures can differ so much from our own, but there are still many aspects of humans that are all similar.

The stories can all be related well, to the person viewing them, as it is every day life. I want to use this theme as much as possible to further absorb the audience, and have them feel a connection to what is being shown.

I have always had a passion for photography, and I love to use it as an expression to describe and document the world as seen through my eyes. Videos were my first interest, although since discovering the fascinating world of still photography, I now understand the power of story telling in a single frame.

With the mass use of digital cameras, the art has been somewhat lost. Because of the ability to take so many photos, people have become somewhat careless. Taking a spectacular photo means, capturing the emotion behind the photo, as it is such a significant way to tell a story, and allows you to convey a message. I want to be someone who diversifies from the crowd of normal photography and truly shows the photography world what art can be produced.

I want to win because I am very enthusiastic about making photography a career of mine, it is what I love. I am very keen to learn from such an awarded and experienced travel photographer so I can gain different perspectives and different ideas, and grow from what experience I already have.

I'm always looking for new ways to document and describe the world that is a part of us. I think Jason and I could really help provide some inspiration to other budding photographers out there. Photography is a powerful medium that is constantly evolving. I want to use that medium to enlighten people about the rest of the world around them.
