My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Canada | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

I have always been highly interested in my visual surroundings. Through photography, I hope to share my experiences visually, and evoke the essence of a place through my perspective; that´s what drives me to take a better shot, in every new place I choose to photograph. My primary interest is in documentary-style photography and my long-term dream is to get into documentary film. Winning this competition would give me the opportunity to establish a more in-depth photography base (via an exciting learning oppertunity), that could serve as a launching point for a future in documentary film. Another aspect that appeals to me about this opportunity is traveling to Oman. Gratefully, I´ve been traveling through the United States and South America this year and in every place I have visited I find really exciting photography opportunities. I have always found traveling to be an a highly effective way to learn, not only about the place I visit, but about myself as I watch myself react to a new culture, with new surroundings. I see photography as a good tool for documenting this process, sharing it with others, and I believe Oman would be an ideal and fascinating place to learn from.
