After a two hour bumpy flight up from Saigon with Vietnam airlines I arrived in Hanoi in the North.
I think it must be the A330's which are bumpy because the weather was quite good.
Again I paid inside the terminal for the taxi, I am sure it was an extorionate price, but given that it was dark, smoggy and there was a large crowd outside, I didn't care. The taxi journey took about 30 minutes and ranged from highway to small lanes. The same crazy scooters, but this time all in the smog.
Arrived at the hotel, glad to get inside from the smog, but even the hotel air con smells of exhaust fumes.
