Internet Access

HONG KONG | Saturday, 29 September 2007 | Views [328]

I have found that finding an Internet Cafe in HK is quite difficult. Everyone seems to have laptops, so wireless is wide spread, however, old fashioned Internet cafe's seem to have died a death. Hotels are one option, however they are expensive.

I have found that Pacific Coffee (a competitor for Starbucks) allow customer's to have free Internet access at terminals once they have bought a drink; you don't need a token or anything, just sit down and use it.

In the busy areas of the city, it is quite difficult to find a free terminal in Pacific Coffee, but some of the malls (like festival mall) and even less obvious places like round the corner from the peak tram station are quite easy to find an empty terminal.

I have a few hotel loyalty cards and I find these are usefull to carry on you so that you can walk into hotels in the city and use their business centre, of course you still have to pay :-(
