My Scholarship entry - THE ESSENCE OF THE HARBOUR
Australia | Saturday, November 22, 2014 | 4 photos
I’ve always been enormously inquisitive about the natural world and its marvellous wonders. As a young child I always longed to work with wildlife yet in some twisted turn of fate I landed in a finance career.
A few years ago my father took me on safari through Zimbabwe and South Africa, this relit my childhood passion and fascination of the wild. I discovered the true beauty and power of photography as both art and a method of documenting stories, events, behaviours and life shortly after and am now forever saving for the next trip. Every day I yearn for the next adventure to fill my explorative and curious spirit, to capture the stories of wildlife and foreign environments.
My practice slipped in previous months having simultaneously worked, studied and raced a marathon. Stumbling upon this scholarship offered a method of revitalisation during a small break and made me look at my photography differently, I feel it has helped me grow and regardless of the result I am thankful. In spite of that, this scholarship could offer me the opportunity to live this fire day in day out and inspire others to adventure into, but more importantly, protect our natural world.
