Working Women in South East Asia

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Monday, January 14, 2013 | flickr photos

I’ve been making mini-documentary videos for several years and teach students on a Television Production course how to put a story together. Over the last few years I’ve moved away from moving image and focused on photography. Never without a camera, whether high end or my iPhone I am always capturing the world around me.

I’ve photographed a few friends weddings and I’ve learnt from each event. I prefer to capture candid shots rather than groups posing as my main focus when taking a photo is to capture a moment, a thought, or a feeling and convey this with a single frame.

I’m a very optimistic person and photography helps me understand the world around me. I’ve just been traveling through South East Asia where the opportunities for photographs would dictate the destination for the day.

I’m currently on a career break from teaching so now would be the perfect opportunity for me to experience this scholarship. I am looking to change my career and photography of real people and events is what drives me the most. I am eager to learn more about the art of photography.

In my career I have been accustomed to tough assignments, long days and meeting deadlines so no worries there!
