My Scholarship entry - Exploring The Land of Smiles

I am a graphic and web designer by trade and have lived in Sydney, Australia for most of my life. Being a creative, I’m naturally drawn to new experiences and embrace opportunities that allow me to see the world in its grandeur and beauty.
My folks migrated from The Philippines when I was 2. I had to embrace what’s unfamiliar and foreign. Fortunately, I grew up in a place that is so diverse and multicultural that I didn’t really feel like I was a foreigner. I got a taste of cultures from different parts of the world – from Lebanon, India, Fiji, Brazil and South Africa.
I went on my first overseas trip without my family when I went to Thailand. I got inspired by the people & the way they embrace the life that’s been given to them. I realised how privileged I was to be able to explore the world and come back to a place called home.
When I saw this opportunity advertised on Facebook this morning I had to give this a shot. A lot has happened since traveling to Thailand for the first time in 2011, and I’ve learned a lot. I want to keep learning. This opportunity will teach me a thing or two that a book couldn’t alleviate.
Experience is what you’re offering. Experience is what I’m after.
