Central Australia

Into the Red Centre

AUSTRALIA | Tuesday, 7 September 2010 | Views [226]

Having done many school projects and living so close to the Northern Territory I thought I had a pretty good idea of what it would be like to travel there. Boy was I wrong!

Central Australia is supposedly the driest place in Australia.

We experienced a lot of rain. Enough rain to sustain hundreds of thin but long waterfalls running off Ayers Rock into the ponds and creeks at the base.

The intensity of the red earth is unbelievable. When you see photos in he brochures they have not been photoshopped the earth is actually resembles an exotic spice or pigment you would expect to see in an Indian marketplace.
