You might never know where your next step can lead you. You have to be ready for whatever is going to be happened with you. I could say that traveling is a new thing for me as I first experienced it with my colleagues from my university just a half year ago. We attended a physiology quiz in Malaysia. It was a very nice country with an exquisite taste for gourmets. There was a Malays food that actually very similar to Sumatrans food minus the strong taste of spices. For your info, me, as Indonesian in general, love to add a lot of sugar, salt, and chili in our foods, especially Sumatrans food.
There's this food called Nasi Lemak at KTM. It was a food consisted of beef sauced by a mixture of coconut milk, ginger, chilies, garlic, etc and eaten with rice. At first, I thought it was a Nasi Rendang from West Sumatra. I expected it to be spicy but it had a very mild flavor.
My journey was continued to Singapore, with no luck with our competition. There, we, five people, travel with neither guide nor experience abroad. Actually it's kind of miracle we found an apartment at Serangoon via the pamphlet at the plane. I met with my old high school friends. They took me to feast on Singapore cuisines. Singapore culinary is much more spicy than Malays. The best Singaporean cuisine was Indian Curry at Little India. It's not about its taste that what I call "right in the middle", but also its wonderful effect that can made your body feel warm and agitated even though you feel exhausted in the night from your journey and your foot felt like they will drop in any seconds. And there was this beverage called Milo Dinosaur because of its massive amount of sugars and chocolates.
Since that very second I want to taste more cuisines from another lot of countries. Traveling felt fun too. Of course it's not as fun as the time when I missed my plane on my way back to Jakarta when my money was almost near to zero and my hope was only placed on a couple of coins and less than five phone calls.
