My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Quick as a puma, mathematically challenged, design student, 23 years old, Muay Thai coach, non-meat head contrary to appearance, expert dougier. Through design, illustration and university I found photography. I love to street culture prominent in my home city of Sydney. Photography is a way to explore, find out more about those around me, to absorb culture and see different perspectives. It's an odd form of sublimity and excitement I never expected to feel with any hobby or passion. I find difficult to put into words.

Though I may not have the best technical skills , I am driven, tenacious and love photography. I strive for each shot to convey more emotion than the last and the complete candidness of photos keeps me on my toes and hungry for the next shot. It took me a year of studying design to find photography, I love design and at first photography was way to compliment my design repertoire but has now become my way of life, I was told to do what I love and I will find a way to make a living from it, I didn't know what that was until I started to take photos. My ambition is to make it my job successfully and as long as I can do it I am happy.
