I was woken up by the peeping sunrays on my face. I had been sleeping in a hotel room, facing the beach. The room was small, with one anserine painting.Even the washroom was dingy. I was in Gujarat,"The Dry State of India". I had begun to loathe the place.
I had repulsively tried to convince my parents against it. I was 20 and the idea of a place without alcohol, was so gravel. Moreover, small conservative beaches or museums ,were not my ideas of vacation. The fights and the atrocious sentences had been exchanged for days.Well, we still ended up in Gujarat. Everything had gone down the drain.I was looking forward for it to end, before it had begun!
This was the first day of my trip.It had been rag being woken up by the rays. I couldn't sleep any further.Trying to sleep further, had gotten me wide awake. So, i decided to take a walk on the beach. I was out lying on the sand excogitating, why I was here. I was busy in my own world, when I saw a lady pushing a girl in a wheelchair. The girl looked paralytic. The wheelchair stopped a little distance away from me.The girl just sat still, next to the deep, beamy ocean. I couldn't hide my curiosity, after an hour. I got up and walked to the lady sitting some distance away. She said,"she's having fun",when I approached her. Further conversation with the mother revealed, that her daughter had been born, deaf and dumb. At,15 she had become paraplegic and blind in a car accident. Since then, she had been coming to the beach everyday. Her mother between sobs had unveiled her child's love, for the sounds of the waves.
I looked at the girl and was in tears. The best vacation wonders had been with me, all my life.My eyes, ears, ability to speak and touch, taste. How could I, have overlooked all this and spent time wailing about petty things?
I went back to my room. The room looked bouffant now.The painting portrayed a serene beach, I touched it. The pink walls looked spiritual.I touched it. Colors seemed to scream.I let my fingers go blamy. I thrilled my tongue with drops of water.I spoke ergodic. Illogical words gave me a funny satisfaction. My ears were meditating,to the sounds of the world. The best music, was my heart beating. It was like being reborn.I knew life would never be the same again, granted. I would be living each moment.Failures would mean nothing.Only my breaths were worthy. Life is exquisite. I was ALIVE,that was prime.
WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR?
I apologized to my parents and enjoyed the best trip of my life
