The Sahara Desert... a journey by camel and foot Live to travel...travel to live...

My Scholarship entry - Conquering the Sahara: One step at a time...

USA | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

I am an avid world traveler on a budget - I've been to over 30 countries, and my greatest joy comes from photographing people in their natural environments. I've volunteered for Habitat in Humanity in Egypt and for Trekking for Kids in Nepal, where I also had the opportunity to trek to Everest's basecamp. I am physically fit and never turn down an adventure, whether it's hiking or hang gliding. I enjoy going off the beaten path and roughing it, and being in nature gives me peace and joy. I received an MFA in Directing from The American Film Institute, so for me, storytelling always comes first. I think it also has given me the confidence to approach people, trust my vision and react quickly to capture it. I am currently pursuing a Global MBA at the Thunderbird School of Global Management with the dream of forming a company to create media to empower and inspire women and girls globally. I visited the Amazon 15 years ago, and to me, it is heaven on earth. The simplicity of the people, the unique environment , the remoteness - were all inspiring. It would be a dream to go back with a photographer's eye and see it in a whole new way, and learn from the best by having Jason at my side.
