My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

When someone asks me to tell them about myself I find it a daunting task. What I have realised is that this is what I am asking the people that I photograph to do. Through this process I have learned that I have an unquenchable thirst to tell the story of the lives and the environment of the people I meet.
People have been known throughout time for being great story tellers and with evolution this tradition has faded. Fortunately evolution has also given us new ways to redefine the way in which these stories are presented today. This is what I love about photography, the ability it gives to tell a visual story.
How many people actually no their own ancestry? Knowing that you have documented someone’s life not only for future family generations but for the world to see, gives me great satisfaction and is what I strive to achieve with every image I take.Having this opportunity would not only be an incredible experience to see and learn about other cultures and landscapes but it would give me a chance to develop my skills as a photographer and storyteller, giving those reading a visual insight to a journey of a life time and to share a new chapter in my story.
