Craig's Experience in Wales A personal documentation of my journey as an exchange student in Great Britain

Rugby at its finest

Tonight I saw my very first rugby game. It was an absolute blast watching Swansea University take on our rival Cardiff University at Cardiff's stadium. For all of you Americans reading this, I'll paint a wee bit of a picture for you. This match is like OSU-Michigan but without pads, smaller stadium, less in attendance, and nobody wearing those ugly colors of scarlet and gray. Needles to say, the people here in Wales are passionate about their rugby. So passionate that they are willing to get just about naked and run across the field (or "pitch" as they say here) as policemen tackle them to the ground. That's right - I saw what I have only seen on bloopers back home... and luckily I was far enough away where I couldn't decipher if they were guys or girls. I found out later that they were girls. The match was an absolute slaughter as Swansea devoured Cardiff 18-0. While I didn't completey comprehend everything that was going on, it still was incredibly awesome to see. These guys were huge! Even the reserves looked like replicas of Goliath himself. There was so much action and it was fast-paced as hardly any penalties were ever called. America really is missing out on quite a sport! I'm posting some photos from the game onto this site. Under the Photo Gallery just like on "Swansea vs. Cardiff: RUGBY". I took a bit of video footage on my camera as well but I'm not able to post that on this site. There aren't a ton of photos but it should give you a good glimpse into what I experienced. I'm headed off to bed now... my body is still trying to figure out what clock it needs to be on. I hope this miniature entry finds you all in great health and happy spirits. God Bless!! :) Philippians 1:3, Craig
