The World is Not Enough

One (more) night in Bangkok

Oh my god. I never expected this.

We arrived in BKK airport to be met by all the local taxi drivers wanting our business. Lydia was a star and negotiated us a good deal with one, and off we went. It seems all of Asia went to the same driving school...

Our hostel was down a small side street, and was remarkably comfortable. It was a short walk from the Koh San Road, and we spent far more time there than I was expecting. Our highlights included the Wat Po temple to see the reclining budda and to get a massage. Lydia got the masseuse and I got the cleaner, at least that's how good my massage was. We also visited the PatPong district to see how the other side live and we were both very amused by the calls of 'Ping Pong Show'. We escaped by Tuk Tuk, which was another experience completely.

For our final night we went to a luxury hotel and spent most of it watching TV, a luxury since leaving the UK. Oh, and Lydia made herself sick eating Tim Tams (a brand of chocolate biscuit for the uninitiated).

Come on call Bangkok by the local name: Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (looked it up on wikipedia). It's a shame that you didn't go to see one of the ping pong shows. It would be something truly unique to tell us about when we meet next.
