My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

For me the best photograph is an image that creates an emotional response,provides something new for me to explore and allows me to discover a narrative within it.A common belief is that the images with the most impact are those with a strong story, and although I accept this opinion as a valid one,I often disagree with it.I personally believe that a strong story can ruin a photo.Once someone gives the full meaning behind a photo I find that it's difficult to think of it in any other way,or even to remember how you thought of it before the story was told.I believe that the best photographs are those that suggest the hint of a narrative and allow the observer to interpret it personally,according to their own imagination and emotional reaction.
By receiving this scholarship I would hope to learn how to create photographs that can affect people emotionally. I am currently studying Journalism at university and I believe that this scholarship experience would contribute significantly to both my course and hopefully my future career within the media.Photography is such an essential part of journalism and an aspect that I hope to further experience and learn so much more about.
