My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Ethiopia | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

When I was a kid, my father would not let me touch his cameras, as far as he was concerned I had shaky hands, poor compositional skills and film was expensive...
When I started to work as a Process Engineer, I readily spent one of my first salaries on a digital camera.
This was 10 years ago. I am 35 now.
Since then I've tried to spend all my holydays travelling abroad, as far as I can afford in terms of time and money...but always with a camera in hand, or two, as it has been the case recently...
The photos I bring from these travels usually contain small details that resonate with me, fragments of daily life, sometimes I feel that I unconsciously try to convey sounds and smells in a photograph...
I save the hundreds of raw files on my external HD, and then, in some quiet nights, I hunt for special photos and process them, sometimes years after they were taken!
I have enjoyed the evolution of my photography in these 10 years. It has been a personal discovery.
My goal with this scholarship is to try to find my photographic process (voice?), be more coherent in my post-processing style, but fundamentally (and finally) learn how to tell stories with my photos. Good ones!
