Today was our last full day in New Zealand. We left Hamilton for Auckland from where we fly to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands tomorrow. En route we encountered a friendly yet festidious traffic cop who punished us for the minor indiscretion of fractionally exceeding the motorway speed limits - which are lower than those of Ireland. Anyhow, that ate up our budget for the day so now we're starving. Not at all - we ate well in a Chinese restaurant before going to see John McClane's latest ridiculously exciting bunch of cliches in Die Hard 4.0. Earlier in the day we'd visited the Aotea Market off Queen St - Auckland's main thoroughfare. Hardly bustling but it was a rainy Saturday in winter.
We popped into Borders bookstore for a guide book for the Cook Islands. We spotted tonnes of literature on our own country, including one which you can see in the middle of the shelf pictured above - which promises Ireland from $90 per day - that's €50! I pity the fool who comes to Ireland on that budget and gets a train from Dublin to Cork. Bring your tent sunshine!
