Surfers Paradise to Noosa through Brisbane

AUSTRALIA | Tuesday, 31 July 2007 | Views [1218]

As promised, we hit the beach this morning, just to see what a place named Surfers Paradise looks like on a winter's morning. The beaches are beautiful - white sand and deep blue water stretching in every direction - except behind us, where high rise hotels and apartment blocks dominate the sky line.

We then hit the roads for a 80km trip to Brisbane, where we stopped for a wee bit at the South Bank Parkway - a smashing little parkland right beside the city where you could easily imagine yourself sitting for hours watching time pass by (as shown in photo). But time was not on our side, so off we went on the highways and byways of Queensland (the Sunshine State as the registration plates tell you), arriving at Noosa some 130km more later. Noosa is the loveliest little village, something like the sleepy fishing villages you see in movies about shark attacks. Not that we'll get attacked I'm sure - there probably aren't even any sharks here. One way or another, we'll investigate tomorrow and get back to you. Hopefully.
