Sydney Swans

AUSTRALIA | Saturday, 28 July 2007 | Views [1760]

Following a kickabout in the park and a trip out to Bondi we got down to the serious business of the day. At the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) the local Aussie Rules team, the Sydney Swans were hosting Richmond Tigers - who were introduced a little ungraciously over the PA system with "Looking for only their second win of the season, please give a warm Sydney welcome to Richmond Tigers".

Anyhow, they failed to add to their tally of wins as they surrendered to a 66 point thrashing (138 to 72). The match itself was entertaining despite the one sidedness. A small group of brave youngsters sitting behind us rowed against the tide by abusing Sydney - even successive goals (Sydney got 21 in total to Richmond's 10) wouldn't keep them quiet. All good fun.

Afterwards we hit the pubs until 3:00am to celebrate. Jayzus.
