Thank God for bus tours. Kyoto is too big to navigate in one day and it lashed rain. We left our umbrella at the second place we visited and didn't come across anywhere to buy a replacement until our last stop. So we got a bit wet.
We really did get to see the best places in Kyoto, Nigo Castle (where a famous shogun lived), Kinkakuji Temple (a fabulous golden building surrounded by beautiful gardens), the Kyoto Imperial Palace (coronation place of the current emperor's father and grandfather), Henian Shrine, Sanjusangendo (which houses an amazing 1001 statues one beside the other) and finally Kiyomizu Temple (This is where our photo was taken. The temple overlooks Kyoto city). It was a busy day. We finished the day off with a delicious meal in the hotel's dining room. Perfect!
