My Scholarship entry - Beyond Dilapidation
Dominican Republic | Friday, November 7, 2014 | 5 photos
I am like no other, yet I am the same as everyone else. My fears and anxieties hold me back, yet my dreams and desires push me forward. They all have made me who I am today. I am a country girl who likes to have clean hands, even when playing in the mud. Laughter draws me in but I also love observing from a distance. I am a walking contradiction because I push myself beyond my own limits to experience as much as I can in this lifetime. Although I don't have a fancy camera, I've always had a passion for photography, capturing what others cannot see, physically or mentally. A great photograph opens doors for your imagination; one can create a story just by noticing small details. I've grown up looking at people and landscapes from around the world and have dreamt of meeting them and walking where they walk. It's nice to look at a photograph, but I love to see the real stories behind them, to take my imagination into reality. That is why I believe I should be chosen. So, while I may be like everyone else, I don't settle for the minimum. My drive, passion, and love for this world and it's people allow me to see with different eyes and I'd like to share that with others.
