My Scholarship entry - Mono on the Mend

Originally I am from Berkeley California. I love the great outdoors. I am almost as accustomed to sleeping in a bed as I am to sleeping under the stars. From a young age I had passion for nature. My parents quickly got me involved with the scouting program. I have now been a scout for fourteen years and achieved the high rank of Eagle Scout, the Silver and Ranger Awards. I am still active in scouts, since 2006 I have worked at a Scout camp in the High Sierras, Camp Wolfeboro. I have been the backpacking and nature guide for the past four years, leading scouts on treks.
Scouting has taken me around the world, all along the way I have been taking photos, through the great American Wilderness to Asia and Europe. I have limited training as a photographer and I am mostly self taught, however scouts has always taught me to be prepared and be adaptable. I am always ready and willing to go on an adventure. Photography has always been a hobby of mine and is turning into a passion.
Currently I am a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying Parks and Recreation and Outdoor Management, I graduate in March. My ideal career would be a photojournalist for an outdoors or travel company.
