For me photography happens to be a lifestyle. Everywhere i go, i carry a camera, it is my pen and journal. Through it, i've been constantly learning to “see” things from a different point of view, exploring different ways on how to capture stories, and learning how to tell them.

My wife, used to work as a flight attendant, which gave me the opportunity to travel around certain places. This woke up my fascination with travelling and photojournalism. I was constantly trying to capture the essence of every place I went. After that, life made us leave Chile (home) and brought us to New Zealand. An outdoors paradise that made me really focus on my photography and appreciate nature as never before.

Through Jason’s mentoring I really want to learn more about a real travel assignment, capture other cultures, and why not, learn new ways to “see” life differently, by really pushing my photography to the next level. I believe in the power of photography to tell stories and write history. This scholarship might well be, my opportunity to learn and become, the travel photojournalist i want to be.
