My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Saturday, December 8, 2012 | 5 photos
I work in IT, whose idea of a boring holiday is sitting by a pool in a resort somewhere. Amongst other things I love exploring, not terribly fond of large groups of tourists, firmly believe the best way to know a place is to get off the bus and get lost in it and obviously, adore photography.
Recent trips abroad have highlighted two things for me. One: I love creating stories with my camera more than I realised, and two: I need to improve my skills so I can investigate the possibility of story telling with the still picture full time.
I've never submitted my photos to any competition before, but this opportunity is just too delicious to pass up! My photography has always been just that - mine. I've never really sought praise for my photos, but I know I can constantly improve. Having family say "amazing photos!" on facebook is nice and all, but it doesn't really help me become a better photographer. At the end of the day that's what I want to get out of this scholarship.
In return I know my love of diverting off the beaten path, to go exploring down those little lane ways and peek into those nooks will mean, hopefully, a depth to the story that would otherwise go missing.
