My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am disheartened by the depression and penchant toward comfort my small town permeates, and I long to stimulate the collective consciousness into a wakeful appreciation of the possibilities before us. I started photography with no grand motives. Through it, however, I have learnt to treasure inspiration, and to love the infinite interactions and shared experiences happening at all times around me. It’s made me hopeful. It has also motivated me to share the world through photos with those around me; those who have been cowed by their situations or pressures and have ceased to look outwardly for meaning, and the peace that comes with it.

I feel keenly about what I do, but there are growing-pains in mastering a craft in such a way that it influences and stimulates an audience. As such, I chase any opportunity to learn my craft better, so that others may feel what I feel when I engage with the organic tumult of our world. This is why I send through these pictures and am applying for this opportunity; I will take any chance available to connect people with every waiting experience.
