Travel Photography Scholarship 2011

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Being the main objective of this writing to give you an idea of who I am then I will start by presenting myself. My name is Carlos Chinchilla Calvo, I'm from Costa Rica, I'm 29 years old, I'm single and I don't have any kids, I work as an technology auditor for the government, my native language is Spanish but I speak English at 90%, and of course, I love travel and photography.

I try to save money to travel at least once a year, avoiding repeating places, I think the world is too big and has a lot to offer. I love to see extraordinary things like ancient civilization ruins, wildlife reserves and modern cities. I’ve been in Chile, Panama, Florida, New York, Washington DC, Spain and Turkey.

My camera is not a DSLR, but I think it has enough functions to control the basic elements of photography I know. I have had the intention of buying a better camera, but I want to learn more about taking photos before that.

I'm the guy that takes photos to everything, always searching for the best angle, and always checking every taken photo to see whether it's ok or no to shoot it again.

As you can see in the files I uploaded, I like to take photos at zoos, trying to capture just the animals and their natural environment, avoiding external elements like buildings in the background, I think that way the photos are more artistic. But without any doubt, it would be an amazing experience to take photos in a real wildlife reserve.

For me, going to Africa with NatGeo to learn more about photography with world-class professionals would be an unforgettable trip.

I’ve always wanted to make a safari.
