My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
China | Sunday, June 30, 2013 | 5 photos
I have two passions in life: travelling and photography. I have been lucky enough to travel extensively across 6 continents, developing my photography skills and capturing a wide range of landscapes. I love photographing natural beauty, something I find people can easily relate to. I would like to improve my action shots. In my first year at University I learnt to row, it’s a sport that I’ve become very involved in and has inspired me to attempt to improve my motion shots so I can document my teammates.
This year on my exchange programme in China I became enthralled with the country. It is incomparable to any other and I found it difficult to describe to others. Photographs became my way of communication, a way to illustrate the differences in culture, food and scenery. Back home, many were surprised at China’s natural beauty. I felt proud of having an impact on their opinion. I’ve realized that this has ultimately always been what drives me to take better photos. There is a sense of challenge, and hopefully achievement, in influencing people’s attitudes from a single picture. I would love the opportunity to travel with Jason Edwards, continuing my two passions hand in hand.
