My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Why these photo's? I travelled through China last April/May and was amazed by the country an it's people. Esp. the people who lived on the countryside, where life is very hard. And still they are very friendly for the strange people who come to their towns. So to honour some of these people here are some shots of them.
And why me? I'm a firefighter who will get his early retirement in a few years. I like to travel to foreign countrys and look how they life. When I'm free of the working hours, I would like to travel more and take photos to show to other people that there is more on this planet to see. I'm an auto-didact photographer who learned photography by reading and looking and I'm sure that I can learn a lot from Jason Edwards.
