The unseen, the unheard of

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

India | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos

Mawlynnong village , situated in East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya,India, is the cleanest village of Asia and is fortunately not yet hit by tourism and commercialization . The pictures show the unseen and the unheard of . They show the simplicity and peace with which the villagers live. I wanted to show an untouched part of India which people have neither seen nor imagined.
Though I am an Instrumentation Engineer, Travelling and photography have been my passion from the beginning and that’s the reason I have covered almost the entire country of India experiencing various terrains, climates, landscapes, food and I have loved every bit of it and have loved capturing them with my camera. But only lately, I have started giving time to learn the technical terms and details related to DSLR photography and for that matter have even purchased a DSLR camera. Currently, I am urged to click a picture without taking care of the technical issues when I notice an interesting subject which is enthralling enough. But I keep experimenting with different camera modes and have got myself acquainted with several terms like shutter speed, aperture, ISO but the implementation part is still lacking.
I have lots of questions which are still unanswered and I want to learn every nitty gritty of photography and what better opportunity than this Travel photography scholarship could be there for someone like me. Getting trained under immensely talented Jason Edwards and getting to visit Kruger National Park for photography expedition will be a golden opportunity for me to learn, grow and imbibe. As already written earlier about the lack of technical sense regarding photography, winning this scholarship would be dream come true for me.
