Day 2 (Afternoon): Sand sliding down the sandy slope in the desert, a real thrill for "desert-goers," ended our Kubuqi daredevilry. It was my first time ever stepping foot in this natural biome. Thankfully, arachnophobia wasn’t an issue here nor was the need for an oasis.

Desert Thrills - Day 2 (Afternoon): Camel trekking in Inner Mongolia's Kubuqi Desert, China's seventh largest. Prior to getting on our camels that suddenly made us 20 feet tall; we relished the endorphin-producing delight of speeding through the desert on a jitney. Then our camels awaited us in their resting area where they sat quietly, jaws in motion as if chewing something.

Intrepid History - Day 3: Entranceway to the Genghis Khan Mausoleum; Khan was a mighty man of conquest. The formidable venue housed numerous yurts filled with trinkets and garments of Mongolian history, including a portrait of what Khan may have looked like. A tour of the massive cemetery ends with a perusal of the museum that contains numerous artifacts of the Mongol culture and people.
