Having a nomadic spirit in a world that encourages settlers, I was excited to hear about this opportunity. That it will also improve my videography skills is icing on the cake. I have been trying to make it as a freelance videographer for about a year in Boston, Massachusetts. IWorking while traveling would be a dream for me. I have traveled internationally extensively and lived abroad in Ghana (2 years) and Mexico/Guatemala (1 year). I learned Spanish in Mexico and Guatemala and this would definitely help me engage with subjects of a travel documentary. The video I have included is of Celeste Brown. She is a young woman trying to break into the National Women's Hockey League by traveling to all of the tryouts in the New England region. Her drive impressed me. She was even living in the back of her van to make the trip affordable. I feel the same drive for film making. I want to bring inspiring places and subjects like Celeste to the attention of other people who can learn from them. I have worked in film in various aspects previously but only recently as a filmmaker. It feels right and, like Celeste, I am working to make this career happen no matter how steep the incline. It would help me considerably to have a mentor who can offer me tips and support, even if for a short time. I also love the idea of learning more about Columbia. I was near it when I went to Brazil but couldn't get there. This would be a chance to offer a positive picture of life in Columbia.
