Bears or no bears...

My theory on returning from Yosemite National Park is that there aren't really any bears there.  Its all a marketing campaign so you'll buy the T-shirts that mimic the road sign 'speeding kills bears'.  And the incessant warnings of not leaving food in your car and insisting that we put our food in 'bear boxes' outside the cabin is just to keep up the marketing campaign.  They even organised a rumour that there was a bear in the camp one day, complete with police cars to keep up appearances.  That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!  The greatest danger I faced was a not-so-elegant biting of the dust as I tripped on a loose stone during one of our hikes of which I still bear the scrapes and bruises.  But what a breathtakingly beautiful place!  My favorite was  the aptly named mirror lake.  I've added some photos for you to look and it won't take long to figure out which one I'm talking about.

I really like your photo. Unfortunately for your theory, I know at least two people that have seen bears there and one that was attacked by a bear. However, I agree its a pretty good marketing strategy to keep people in perpetual fear of the ever lurking bear.
