Swim through your travel Barriers
It truly is one of Mother Nature’s artistic masterpieces and an inspiration to look after our stunning natural environment. It’s a colourful rainbow only experienced by those with gills and fins (or if you’re lucky flippers and a snorkel!). Named one of the seven natural wonders of the world the Great Barrier Reef, off Australia’s north eastern coast, lives up to its reputation. With coral and fish of all colours, shapes and sizes the reef system is nothing short of wondrous and is often at the top of the tourism bucket list. To be able to see this untouched beauty is something a simple photograph or postcard will never be able to capture. Immersing yourself into the clear, warm waters and floating on the surface, with the smells of salt and sunscreen wafting on deck and leaving the bustling chatter of the world above, down here it becomes indescribably peaceful. Boats take groups out to view the reefs from stationary pontoon platforms situated at different parts along the reef. The pontoons accommodate snorkelers and scuba divers but, if getting wet is not your thing then you are still able to get under the water by going below deck in a 360 degree glass viewing room. Below the water, once you become a part of this underwater bliss, the sea world emerges with the life of some of the most complex coral structures on earth and schools of fish that are almost within a hands reach, if you’re quick enough! It is so out of this world that it is even visible from space but, only those of the deep blue can live in this paradise and we are merely permitted as visitors. The Aussie Great Barrier Reef is a definite must before you kick the bucket!
