My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Images are SO important, but so are words. I present this application knowing I have selected my best images and thoroughly considered words to get me on that plane to Oman.
Although not (yet) a professional photographer and having much to learn, I am hungry for experiences and opportunities that will enable me to develop my craft. Whilst a photograph captures a moment otherwise lost in time, a moment that would never be seen, or noticed or forgotten, it is much more than this - it's the opportunity to capture the soul of a time, a place, an event, a person, an object. This is the challenge and the joy of photography for me.
I want to be a storyteller; to share the world's joy and pain; to reveal what we are too busy to see; to advocate the wonders of our planet and cultures with people who have never truly seen and may never experience; to contribute and to make a difference.
Going to Oman with National Geographic Channel and Jason Edwards would be an amazing opportunity to learn and grow both personally and as a photographer. It would also give me insight into life on the job, not to mention the opportunity to talk to, and experience working in the field with one of the best.
