1: Black back Jackal-A lonely Jackal with only its shadow as company. The road it is walking on shows that the jackal is in an civilised area. It may not have lived such a hard life as it looks very healthy, and could be due to the local civilisation.
2:Caught-Lying in the grasses, an Imala has been taken down by a leopard. The leopard expression is showing how much effort it putting into Sinking its teeth into the Impala. This is a desperate effort to keep its food.
3-Controlled fire burning grass-The foreground of this image show burnt grass, and background-the old dry grass.The African worker is watching the fire so it does not get out of control.I was fortunate enough to go on several South African safaris on a family holiday, which is where these photos got taken. Spending the small amount of time there on safaris, we missed out on the opportunity to see the locals and nearby schools which I would have loved to visit. To experience and photograph the local cultures would be a life changing experience.
I would be the best candidate for this position as I am very eager for the opportunity to advance my knowledge and skills in photography. From a young age I have been very fascinated with photography and how something as small as picture can convey so many different elements and perspectives for people.
After taking a photography class at high school- which I thoroughly enjoyed, I realised it would be difficult to build a career around.I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Ecology at Otago University, New Zealand. Although I have not tried a professional career in photography, if I were put in the situation where this was possible I would be very excited in pursuing it.
