My name is Andreas Katzenberger, I am 29 years old, from Munich in Germany. The pictures I have chosen for this competition have been taken on a trip to Morocco last year. They show different images of what Morocco what it is: very colorfulness, mysterious, side-by-side of different characters, never forgetting the rich cultural roots of this country... I earn my living as a junior banker, specialising in project finance. Prior to working in my current position, a friend and I spent six months travelling eight countries. My experiences throughout this trip taught me a lot about myself, made me question my values and re-define them at least in part. Photography played a significant part in this process and seeing the world through the lense of my camera sharpened and altered my view of people, places and events. In my every-day life this now helps me not to lose sight of what truly matters in life. Sadly, I rarely manage to find time to follow my passion for photography and to further hone the skills I already acquired. My camera accompanies me to events and on short trips and excursions, but the opportunity to spend a week beside National Geographic photographer Jason Edwards would allow me to focus on the fascinating and exciting world of travel fotography for a while. It would be a unique opportunity to raise my knowledge and ability to a new level by learning from one of the very best in the field and enable me to capture my surroundings in a much more precise and authentic manner.
