Cartagena: Desde la piel de los colores

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Colombia | Monday, November 7, 2011 | 5 photos

Hello!
My name is Luz Marilyn Monroy Montaño, I am 19 years old and I am form Barranquilla, a hot and small city from Colombia. In this album I set my-self, this is my point of view about Cartagena, a beautiful and full of contrast city that is near Barranquilla, about two hours by car. Each one of these photos expresses how is the cotidianity of our people, in a magic place where every corner is full of history because it's and old city, but it's still alive at the same time. That is why these photos are alive by themselves. A romantic place shot by my subjectivity, capturing the essence of the place. Indeed, a picture is worth a thousand words. So I will start saying something about me.
I want to take this chance to express that this is exactly what I have always dream. I am a student of communications and journalism that has always being a dreamer, but I am the type of person who thinks that everything is possible when you move towards that. Since I was thinking what I wanted to be in life, I have clear that I wanted a career that gave me the opportunity to get approach to other cultures, I have always loved the contact with people and places different from mine, at the same time that I appreciate my roots.
This would be an excellent experience in my life, I feel I am young and I have the sensibility to enjoy each second of an experience like this. I am eager for learning more and more doing what is passion to me: photography.
I have always admired the different ways of expression that we humans have, and everything have its artistic side. That is why I enjoy so much photography. Reality is the most perfect creation and we deserve to take a second in our lives to stop and just enjoy and appreciate what is around us.
