So...anyone following this is likely to know me so won't expound much here.

Southern California, USA girl...veterinarian, compassion fatigue educator, thanatologist.  First foray into international development work.

Involved with Veterinarians Without Borders for the past year.  Opportunity to support the EHELD (Excellence in Higher Education for Liberian Development) grant through USAID.  Will be traveling to Liberia with 4 others for a month of activities designed to support economic development, veterinary capacity building, and animal agriculture as primary goals.

In addition to the "standard fare" of internaional development work that VWB supports, I will have the additional opportunity to support trauma mastery for professionals in Liberia working with those affected by the civil wars (1989-2003) and the aftermath, as well those affected by the war.

I have had the pleasure of collaborating, long distance, over the past several months with a number of kind and gracious people in Liberia.  This is truly a joint effort.

To those of you who have listented to me (a LOT!) talk about this dream, thank you.  You are appreciated beyond what you could possibly know.  I hope this blog will be an easy way for you to follow the adventure at your leisure.  Not sure about ability to download photos, but will do my best.
