After only 1 day in Yekaterinburg, we left on Saturday 8 November on the 8.42am train to Nizhny Novgorod. We had 1st class tickets, so we had our own cabin. It turned out to be the best train yet, as we got fed a hot meal - for FREE! The man came around with a menu (in Russian of course), and it took some time before we understand that it was complimentary. What we had blindly ordered turned out to be pork with chips and onions, and an omelette, with juice and a salad. Yummo.
The train ride itself was uneventful, other than having to disembark in NN at 3.17am. Thankfully, this was the only instance we had to get on or off a train at this time of the night, and I had already booked a hotel. It was easy enough to get a taxi, even though we think it was a bit more than we should have paid. At that time of night, who's gonna complain?
