Shanghai Day 2

CHINA | Monday, 20 October 2008 | Views [374] | Comments [2]

We have been extremely impressed by this "Mega City".  We visited Yuyuan Garden this morning.  It was a private garden built in the middle of the 16th century.  It was everything I thought a Chinese garden should be.  Beautiful buildings, amazing rock sculptures, interconnecting ponds filled with Koi carp, and all the dragon carving you could ask for.  We spent a couple hours wandering the grounds getting our monies worth, as it cost about $14 NZD to get in.  Money well spent!

We spent the afternoon in the Expat area of Shanghai.  We ended up at Oscars Pub, for a couple pints.  We are not used to the heat of Shanghai.  It was 25C today!  The beer and cider went down well.

Currently we are sitting in our hotel waiting to go to the train station.  We have a 7:15pm train to Beijing.  It should take about 11 hours to get there.  I foresee two very sore bums.
