From the South to the North

The whole my life my dad tells me that I need to know what I want and I HEVE TO know what I will do tomorrow. As I'm Russian it was very clear to me, and I did understand that his thoughts were right, but then i went to Italy and everything changed. The first impression of this country was like from all others, nothing unusual, but better than in Russia, the glass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Then I started communicating with Italians, asking them what do they do for their life, what are their plans for the closest future, like beginning of the school year (as far it was summer time that moment), and I have heard very unusual for Russians thing: "I don't know yet, I'll see when it starts". If it could be the answer of one single person, It was the answer of every Italian who I was talking with. To make clear, that moment I was 19, people with who I was talking was from 17 to 29, some of them were waiters, some were working as lifeguards, taxi drivers and etc. They don't make plans, they live this moment and don't try to predict what if. It is easier, funnier and now I think better. They enjoy their lives, they do what they want to do, they don't afraid to make their own mistakes. They have "siesta" in the middle of the day, just to have rest and meet with friends. They have "aperitivo" before the dinner just to have rest after work and meet with friends again to prepare for a dinner. They eat cookies for breakfast, because they want to. The have the best Ice cream ever and don't afraid to eat it every day, just even with fear to gain some kilos. They are careless, no matter where they live, the South or the North, no matter how old they are, no matter how reach they are, they do what they like to do. This country changed me greatly, now I don't plan my tomorrow, I just know it will be, I know I will enjoy it and if i have problems, I know that i will cope with them.
