A City by the River

As a child, painting to portray things around me was my way of expressing. As I grew up, I learned to appreciate not just form & colors but light, spaces, lines and the way they combined to narrate a visual tale. I turned to a camera to capture this tale, and promptly fell in love with it. It intrigued me, the rigidity of the frame, I could keep this and choose to oust that & at the same time, the power to document accurately attracted me.
From exploring places & people to then examining the relationship people have with a particular place, my old point and shoot camera helped me journey well. Today, I work in the television industry and my love for travel regularly takes me around. Nothing gives me a bigger high than to explore – new cultures, different people, and landscapes.
My camera is my tool to engage with others, build awareness about things that need to be highlighted, capture beauty & memories for posterity. However, with no formal training I feel I lack the means to reach the next skill level. It is my dream to be mentored by a NatGeo photographer & become a photojournalist, work with them. This scholarship coupled Jason’s expertise will help me achieve my best.
